Avero CEO and founder Damian Mogavero recently received the prestigious Hospitality Innovator Award at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration’s 7th Annual Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards, held earlier this week at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group, was also honored as the 2015 Icon of the Industry.
Each year this exclusive event honors influential and forward-thinking minds in the hospitality and travel world. This year’s memorable ceremony included over 700 industry leaders from more than 15 countries, celebrating Damian Mogavero’s many professional achievements at Avero, which is now the leading restaurant software-as-a-service provider for restaurants, hotels and casinos. Through solutions such as Loss Prevention, Single Server Mentoring and more, Avero’s continued innovation empowers food and beverage operators to make faster and more profitable decisions while providing outstanding hospitality to their guests.
“It is a true honor to recognize Damian’s educational and entrepreneurial contributions to the culinary arts, wine, coffee and hospitality sectors. His successful development of innovative restaurant software solutions is an inspiration to our students and the industry,” said Michael D. Johnson, Cornell’s Bradley H. Stone Dean and E.M. Statler Professor.
During his acceptance speech, Damian encouraged colleagues to take advantage of exciting new opportunities during a unique time in the hospitality industry:
“There has never been a more exciting time to innovate in our industry. This is the foodie generation. We’re eating and drinking fundamentally differently — higher quality ingredients, transparency of sourcing, thoughtful beverages in more casual settings…Technology will bring us a single place to gain insights and answers on our mobile devices in real time.”
