As part of our ongoing support for nonprofit organizations dedicated to the education of the next generation of hospitality and culinary leaders, Avero recently sponsored and attended C-CAP’s annual benefit at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, in New York City.
C-CAP Founder and Chairman Emeritus Richard Grausman and President Susan Robbins hosted a fabulous event last week that brought together some of the biggest restaurateurs from New York City in one room, successfully raising notable funds for a wonderful cause. During the event, honoree Chef Daniel Humm gave a heartwarming speech about his difficult and inspirational journey to becoming one of the most successful chefs in the world.
The event’s Grand Tasting featured cuisines of every genre and style – fresh sashimi from Nobu, fried Chicken from Carla Hall, prime rib from BLT Steak, warm poached egg with truffle from The Modern, Peking duck from Shun Lee Palace, and much more. One of the most notable stations was The NoMad’s creative spin on a traditional outdoor BBQ, complete with checkered tablecloths over picnic tables, grass, a grill station, and some outrageously delicious hotdogs with truffle mayonnaise. C-CAP Co-Chairman Marcus Samuelsson had a consistent line of eager guests for his popular spicy noodles from Red Rooster, served in Chinese takeout boxes with chopsticks.
In addition to the wide variety of tastings there were some amazing silent and live auction items, including a trip to India and at-home dinners hosted by several top New York City chefs, which raised about $100,000. Each event guest went home with a goodie-filled Zabar’s gift bag.
The Avero team was honored to support this wonderful cause and spend the night in such great company, and we look forward to hosting our third annual C-CAP Externship Program this summer!
