Avero is passionate about supporting programs that create, educate and support leadership in the hospitality industry. Recently we had the great opportunity to support a new worthy cause, Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP), which works with public schools across the country to prepare underserved high school students for college and career opportunities in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
A national nonprofit organization founded in 1990 by well-known culinary educator and author Richard Grausman, C-CAP has awarded students a total of $37 million in scholarships and donated a total of $2.8 million in supplies and equipment to classrooms. C-CAP operates programs in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, D.C./Virginia/Maryland and Arizona.
Avero was thrilled to sponsor C-CAP’s annual benefit chef tasting dinner honoring Michael White and chaired by restaurateur Ahmass Fakahany at Chelsea Piers. At the event we spoke with C-CAP President, Susan Robbins, Ahmass and Chef White and congratulated them on an amazing, inspiring and successful organization. Chefs from over 40 restaurants from around the city prepared some of their signature dishes with the help of C-CAP student volunteers, and the event featured food from Avero friends Union Square Cafe, Talde, Daniel Boulud, Marc Murphy, Richard Sandoval, BR Guest, and Nobu 57, just to name a few. Also in attendence were Chef Chair and C-CAP board member Marcus Samuelsson and Master Sommelier and Wine Director from The Little Nell Carlton McCoy, a C-CAP graduate and now one of the most renowned wine directors in the country.
Avero looks forward to supporting the incredible mission of C-CAP in the future and helping to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the restaurant industry.
