Each year Avero, ECF, and C-CAP work together to host two hospitality students/alumni and their mentors in New York City for a four-day immersion trip into the food and beverage industry. The two lucky recipients this week were Ben Sison, rising sophomore at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Nicole Swartz, Culinary Coordinator for C-CAP in Arizona.
Along with their mentors Chris Alfieri, Program Director for ECF, and Marcos Seville, Executive Sous Chef at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia, Ben and Nicole had the rare opportunity to meet and learn from leading chefs, general managers, and restaurateurs at some of the city’s most prominent dining establishments: The NoMad Bar, Craft New York, Marea, Union Square Greenmarket, Amada, Emmy Squared, and Brooklyn Bowl, just to name a few.
In addition to visiting and touring these popular New York hotspots, the scholarship recipients and their mentors all received in-depth training from the Avero team on how our restaurant software and analytics help food and beverage operators improve their operations and guest experience while driving profits. They also learned about the latest food and beverage industry trends, as presented by Avero founder and CEO Damian Mogavero.
“Avero is committed to supporting ECF’s and C-CAP’s missions of mentoring deserving students pursuing careers in our industry,” Damian said. “We hope that the New York City Restaurant Education Experience will continue to have a lasting, inspirational effect on these students and many others for years to come.”
Avero, ECF, and C-CAP look forward to watching Ben’s and Nicole’s hospitality careers blossom! Check out some highlights from the trip below.
