We live in a rapidly moving and highly digital age – most everything we do is on our smartphones and on the go. Checking emails, dictating texts, and perusing social media while we walk the dog or ride the train to work is a norm. And to boot, there is an app for almost everything.
Delectable is the app for oenophiles – connoisseurs of wines. Delectable has focused and amassed one of the largest community of trade professionals, everyone from sommeliers, wine critics, wine makers, and retailers, and of course, the crowd – wine consumers worldwide.
Our very own, Paul Mabray, VP of AveroBuzz has previously discussed this in his article, pointing out that “the crowd is the critic.” What does the crowd love most? The ease by which you snap a pic of the label, then immediately see the price, reviews, and opinions from global app users.
Delectable is swallowing the wine review world, and with famed wine critic, founder of the wine publication Vinous, and celebrity Antonio Galloni at the helm, the app has amassed 1 million users and boasts over 5 million reviews, including 250,000 critic reviews. It is no wonder that Bloomberg has ranked Delectable the #1 wine app.
Make no mistake, for every review there are 10 – 30 scans in retailers and restaurants to see if a bottle of wine is worth purchasing. Consumers use Delectable to make purchase decisions, provide their own ratings, and can share wine info from the app directly to their social media platforms. Everyone is in on the conversations across the digital world, and as a wine industry professional, managing your reputation and engaging customers about their reviews is crucial for influencing patrons at point of purchase, as well as after they have reviewed the wine.
Now it’s time to pop a cork, raise a glass, and Cheers, Prost, Santé, Cin Cin, Salud – or however you clink a glass and wish good fortune over delicious wine!
